Cloud Control

We control the clouds as they sneak by,

gathering and dispersing above our heads,

making shapes behind our backs.

We breathe and talk and wish.

We laugh and whistle, stand in crowds.

We make the wind that shapes the clouds.

We drive and run and fly.

We stamp our feet, wave our arms and shout.

We make storm, flood and drought.

Our dreams and dancing intrigue the air.

Our passions and desires boil the sea.

Our hopes evaporate. Our fears condense.

We build the clouds drop by drop.

We bring them on and send them off

as if to each one we were chained.

We control the clouds and eventually the stars.

And knowing this or not we fidget and twiddle,

noodle with our toys and curse the weather

       for being unpredictable.
